Investment Philosophy

By its very definition, investing is something done today with the expectation of a positive return in the future. We think that there is no reason why that positive return should be restricted to the value of the investment itself. 

More and more frequently we find ourselves having conversations with our clients about what effect their investments are having on society and the world around us.

We believe in offering our clients truly Independent advice and have no ties to any firms or investment companies. This means we can offer whole of market advice allowing us to build bespoke investment portfolios for our clients on an individual basis.

Restricting investment portfolios to avoid particular companies or sectors used to be the reserve of those with strong ethical considerations, with the majority giving little thought as to the matter outside of what sort of return they might get.

We believe achieving optimal investment returns and doing good with your money don't have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, there is evidence demonstrating that there is no detriment to investment returns from when sustainable investment themes are incorporated into investment portfolios.

This is why our investment portfolios are all constructed with sustainability themes in mind.

Finsgate's investment committee meets on a regular basis to ensure the investments we recommend to our clients are functioning effectively and meeting our expectations. With over 50 years of combined experience, the committee makes decisions about the correct mix of assets, e.g. equities, bonds and property, for the differing risk levels that are right for our clients.
